Joan JonesJoan Jones has enjoyed sewing since childhood and now has over 50 years of sewing experiences in a variety of techniques. She is completely self taught and feels this is the reason for the originality and the unusual sewing methods that she has developed. She is the founder and owner of Seams Like Home, LLC

It started many years ago as a cottage industry where she designed and produced dolls and holiday decorations for gift shops and craft shows. In 1987, she opened Seams Like Home, a gift and quilt shop. In 1994, she began publishing her line of patterns. She has published over 100 copyrighted designs. She writes all her own instructions and drafts her own patterns - even does the photography seen on their covers. These patterns, as well as the production of her sculpted clay faces and hand drawn faces, has resulted in an entire line of related supplies that are offered by mail order, on-line and at quilt show vendor malls. She teaches at quilt shows across the country, and teaches and lectures at quilt guilds. She has published in magazines and mail order catalogs. Recently she has expanded the business to include wholesale as well as retail. You may see her patterns at one of your local Quilt Shops.

She loves to draw and work these drawings into applique quilts. All of her quilts are quilted by machine. She feels that "with all the exciting projects to make, and so little time, it's absolutely necessary to have fast and easy ways to get things done."

When her husband, Richie, retired, she sold her shop in Clinton. He now helps with pattern publication and vending at quilt shows. When not hard at work on the business, they enjoy gardening, walking, golfing and getting together with family and friends.
